The customer uses Redmine for task management and time recording. The working time to be recorded is primarily done in front of the PC, the actual time booking was done manually until now. As a result times were often not booked or booked inaccurately.
A desktop app for time recording was implemented. The app is platform-independent and integrates into the notification area of the respective desktop environment (Windows, XFCE, Mate, Plasma). Users can find Redmine tickets assigned to them and create independent timers. Thus it is possible to quickly switch between different tasks, pause the work, and automatically send an accurate time entry to Redmine at the end. Breaks are automatically detected by tracking users activity.
The time recording tool caused a big surprise shortly after its introduction. Significantly more productive time was accounted that would have been lost without the tool.
