As a result of the company’s growth, the customer was reaching capacity limits in tracking and documenting business cases via e-mail. The status of recorded tasks was often not clear, and actions previously taken often had to be painstakingly retrieved from long email threads or Excel spreadsheets that were completely overloaded.
After analyzing the requirements, it became clear that the introduction of a project and task management tool made sense. Already after the first presentation the open source solution Redmine was convincing. While its flexibility allows for easy industry-specific customization by the end users themselves, it also scores points in terms of data security - operation is possible completely “in-house” if required. Since it is a browser application it can be quickly deployed on any number of workstations without time-consuming installation. Due to the availability of the source code and an open interface for customer-specific enhancements, customizations and integration with related business applications are easily possible.
Redmine takes task and project management to a new level. It is recommended as an excellent solution for a variety of business problems due to its flexibility in terms of technical aspects, as well as the fine-grained rights management. By operating as a virtual appliance on the customers infrastructure, data protection concerns can be easily eliminated.
